My writers group told me about this one month – July – virtual writers summer camp called NaNoWriMo. For any other aspiring or practicing writers out there here is the link. It is an online, from your-cozy-writing-corner connection to encouragement, self-discipline and amazing support…guides, camp-mates, the works. We were even talking about having virtual smores on Friday nights. And this would be the way for gluten free eaters to nibble on the graham crackers! Awesome! Not to mention sugar free eaters nibbling on marshmallows.
So, I have committed myself to working on the book for 3000 words over the next month! You can commit to anywhere from 30 to 50,000 words. Really cool. Already I feel myself resisting, which was one reason to do this blog. I figured it would be helpful to have somewhere to express those feelings that come up, and talk them out to whoever is listening…or reading, and maybe hear some of your stories, too. Some of you may have experience with writing children’s books and exploring the publishing world. Mutual support is great.
I also have a personal commitment to keep this blog going, as a way for me to keep connected to the book, to the community, and to you, a prospective reader of the book. So I will try to make it interesting, entertaining and, hopefully, helpful, too.
Sigh. Now back to my story. I have two partial drafts from different perspectives, and maybe for different age groups. How do I decide which to use? Urg…
