I spoke with my older sister who has the family bible, in Gaelic, no less, that likely came with our great, great, great grandfather when he came from Skye to PEI around 1820s. There were quite a few emigrants who arrived from Skye at that time in a move by Lord Selkirk. These were the Highland clearances, where clans people were forced off their traditional lands so the English could start sheep raising. Wikipedia has lots of information about that.
My sister has been exploring a genealogy site called “MyHeritage.com”. Through this site she is finding some other family connections. Check it out! Pretty cool. It is interesting, too, how each of us, in our conversations with Mom learned different bits of history. We are bringing it all together. Some of the legacy of The Marco Polo Table.
